Manual Handling Training
All our Manual Handling training courses are delivered by FETAC Level 6 accredited instructors. Individual certificates are issued on completion.

Manual Handling of loads means any transporting or supporting of a load by one or more employees and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving a load, which by reason of its characteristics or of unfavorable ergonomic conditions involves risk, particularly of back injury to employees.
Under Chapter 4 of 2007 Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations, an Employer shall:
- Take appropriate organisational measures or use the appropriate means, in particular mechanical equipment, to avoid the need for the manual handling of loads;
- When the need for manual handling of loads cannot be avoided, take appropriate organisational measures to reduce the risk involved in the manual handling of loads;
- Assess the health and safety conditions of the type of work involved and take appropriate measures to avoid or reduce the risk, particularly of back injury;
- Ensure that particularly sensitive groups of employees are protected. These include: children and young persons; pregnant, post-natal and breast feeding women; people with reduced mobility; new or inexperienced workers; persons with serious particular problems;
- Ensure that when manual handling tasks are entrusted to employees, their personal capabilities are taken into account;
- Carry out health surveillance;
- Provide training and information (weight of each load and centre of gravity).

This training course is available both in-house and off-site. Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course to each participant.
